About This Episode
Gaming, group chats, You Tube…. most kids spend a bit of their time every day online, even if they don’t have their own social media accounts. It’s a big part of their world, but one which is wrought with danger. In this episode I want to help your tween have a happy and safe online experience. That’s why we are going to talk about what to do if you come across anything rude, scary or nasty, and why your online world should help you be the best version of yourself. We also want to talk about why parents sometimes say ‘no’ and the tricks companies use to make kids spend more time (and money) online.
Together we will explore:
- Being the boss of your time online
- The tricks that companies use to make kids spend more time online
- Why all kids need healthy fear when they are online
- What to do if you come across rude, scary or nasty content
- How to know if you spend too much time online
- Why parents sometimes have to say no
Please note: This episode will be a PG version of Michelle’s usual staying safe online content she delivers in primary schools, as Michelle will be taking into account the variety of ages and maturity of tweens tuning in. As always, we recommend a trusted adult being present. If you have any concerns, please review the episode before showing your child.
